We design and manufacture
optical combiners for AR systems

What is Metasurface?

A new and evolving optical lens technology, Metasurfaces enable a flat lens solution that can perform all the functions of classical lenses & more.

Manufactured in semiconductor foundries, the technology is a dense array of nano structures that sits on the surface of a glass or plastic substrate, providing unprecedented design levers and unparalleled control, performance, and possibilities.

The Fourier metasurface measures less than 1mm, and can be placed inside regular opthalmic lenses

Manufacturing

Fourier manufactures its Metasurface combiner using a standard semiconductor process, yielding hundreds of dies per 300mm wafer. Each die is then embedded inside an ophthalmic lens blank, making it invisible to the user.

Fourier's lens blanks can then be formed to the desired prescription, polished, and fitted into frames using existing ophthalmic equipment, resulting in an additional cost of less than $10 per lens.
